  1. Frequent Questions

Water Softener FAQs

  1. What is hard water? How do I know if my water is hard?

Hard water contains higher amounts of calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) than the permitted level. To determine whether your water is hard or soft, it is recommended to get it tested by a professional.

  2. What is a water softener? Is installing a water softener at my house compulsory?

A water softener is a machine that removes excessive calcium and magnesium from water, converting hard water into soft water. With increasing pollution, water softeners have become a must-have for every household. However, if your water has acceptable hardness levels (Calcium + Magnesium), a softener may not be necessary. But if you notice scaling on taps, rough and dry hair, and skin after bathing, these are signs of water hardness, and a water softener is recommended.

  3. How do I decide which size of water softener I need to install?

The size of a water softener depends on your daily water consumption and the hardness level in your water. Higher values of these parameters require a larger water softener to optimize salt consumption and minimize water wastage. You can contact us, and our executive will recommend the appropriate size.

  4. What is the life of a water softener?

A water softener is a one-time investment with no defined end life. However, periodic replenishment of regeneration salt is necessary for proper functioning.

  5. Can I install a water softener in a flat?

Yes. Our water softeners are designed to adapt to any kind of installation, whether in bungalows, villas, or flats, ensuring the availability of soft water at all times.

  6. Do I need to regenerate the water softener?

Regeneration depends on the type of softener you purchase. Manual water softeners require the user to regenerate manually, while automatic models regenerate on their own, requiring no user intervention.

  7. How would I know if salt needs to be replenished?

All our automatic water softeners come equipped with a proprietary "Low Salt Level Alarm" that buzzes when the salt level in the brine tank is low. You’ll also get a buffer of 15 days to arrange for salt replenishment. In manual models, you can manually check the salt level by opening the brine tank lid.

  8. Who will install the water softener if I order online?

Purity Hub has technicians across India. An authorized technician will install the system. If a technician is unavailable in your area, we will arrange one from another area at no additional cost.

  9. Is shade required for my automatic water softener?

No. Purity Hub water softeners are built with high-quality plastic and metal covers, offering protection against storms, rain, cold, and heat. All electrical components are securely enclosed.

  10. Which salt is required to regenerate a water softener?

Tablet salt with 99.5% purity is required. Using sea salt can damage the resin due to high mud content. Sea salt and rock salt are not recommended by experts.

  11. What are the advantages of automatic water softeners over manual ones?

Automatic water softeners regenerate automatically based on preset time and water discharge levels, eliminating the need for user intervention. Manual softeners require the user to monitor and operate the regeneration cycle or opt for an AMC, which adds to future operating costs due to labor charges.

  12. What are the advantages of ion exchange technology or resin-based water softeners over magnetic water softeners?

Ion exchange (resin-based) water softeners outperform magnetic softeners. Magnetic softeners often do not show visible results and tend to stop working within a couple of years. In contrast, resin-based systems offer reliable, long-term performance with measurable results using a hardness testing kit.

Carbon and Sand Filter FAQs

  1. What does a carbon and sand filter resolve? How do I know if I need one?

Carbon and sand filters remove suspended solids, dust, mud, and chemicals from water, improving water quality for your skin, hair, and clothes, and preventing plumbing blockages. Professional water testing can help determine the need.

  2. How do carbon and sand filters work? What is the future maintenance cost?

These filters use a carefully selected mix of sand gravels to trap solids and activated carbon to absorb chemicals. There is no future maintenance cost, as the system self-cleans through backwashing using only water.

  3. How do I decide which size of carbon and sand filter I need to install?

Size depends on daily water consumption and the level of impurities. Higher values require a larger unit. Our team can assist in determining the correct size.

  4. What is the lifespan of a carbon and sand filter?

These filters are long-term investments with no defined end life. However, the media may need replenishment approximately once every 10 years.

  5. Can I install a carbon and sand filter in a flat?

Yes. Our systems are adaptable to all residential setups, including flats.

  6. Do I need to backwash the carbon and sand filter?

Yes. Manual models require the user to backwash the system. Automatic models perform backwashing automatically.

  7. Who will install the carbon and sand filter if I order online?

Our technicians are available across India. If a local technician is unavailable, one will be dispatched from another region at no extra charge.

  8. Is shade required for my automatic carbon and sand filter?

No. Our filters are built with durable covers and materials to withstand all weather conditions.

  9. What are the advantages of automatic over manual carbon and sand filters?

Automatic filters self-operate on time or usage-based schedules, ensuring consistent performance. Manual filters require user attention or a service contract, increasing long-term costs.

  10. What are the advantages of carbon and sand filters over 20-inch spun filters or bag filters?

Carbon and sand filters are one-time purchases with minimal upkeep, thanks to their self-cleaning ability. In contrast, spun or bag filters require frequent cleaning and replacement.

Iron Filter FAQs

  1. What does an iron filter do? How do I know if I need one?

Iron filters remove excessive iron (Fe) and other impurities. High iron levels cause stains, unpleasant water experience, and damage to hair, skin, and plumbing. A professional test can confirm the requirement.

  2. How does an iron filter work? What is its future maintenance cost?

It contains special resin for iron removal, sand gravels to trap solids, and carbon to absorb chemicals. Maintenance is limited to backwashing, requiring only water.

  3. How do I decide which size of iron filter I need to install?

Size depends on water consumption and impurity levels. Our team can recommend the appropriate model.

  4. What is the lifespan of an iron filter?

Iron filters last long, with media needing replacement only once every 10 years.

  5. Can I install an iron filter in a flat?

Yes. Our filters suit all types of residences, including flats.

  6. Do I need to backwash the iron filter?

Manual models require the user to initiate backwashing. Automatic systems handle it on their own.

  7. Who will install the iron filter if I order online?

Installation will be performed by a certified technician. If unavailable locally, we will arrange one from another area at no additional cost.

  8. Is shade required for my automatic iron filter?

No. Our iron filters are weather-resistant and come with protective covers.

  9. What are the advantages of automatic over manual iron filters?

Automatic models perform backwashing without user input, ensuring reliable operation. Manual systems require regular monitoring or a service plan, increasing operating costs.

Product Warranty FAQs

  1. How can I understand the warranty duration on products like Water Softeners, Mud and Sand Filtration Systems, or Iron Filters?

Each product comes with a 1- or 3- or 5-year limited warranty based on automation and category type. Warranty information is listed under the "Specifications" tab on each product page. If the tab is empty, the product does not have a warranty.

  2. Are all parts covered under warranty? Which parts are not covered?

Most components—including multiport valves, electronic valves, brine tanks, FRP vessels, bypass valves, vacuum breakers, and low-pressure switches—are covered. Regeneration & Backwashing motors and motor controllers have a limited 1-year warranty. Please refer to the "Specifications" tab on products page for details.

  3. What can void my product's warranty?

Using unauthorized salts (other than Purity Hub’s 99.5% pure softener salt) or altering the product’s installation will void the warranty and it cannot be reclaimed. Non-recommended salt may also damage the system.

  4. What is On-Site Warranty? Does it include technician visits?

On-Site Warranty means you don’t have to send parts to us—our technician will visit your premises to replace faulty components.

However, technician visit charges apply and are not covered under warranty. These charges may vary between Rs. 2100 to Rs. 3000 depending on technicians availability locally or from another city.

  5. Does the warranty cover product shifting and reinstallation?

Shifting and reinstallation incur transportation and installation charges. Our technician will assess site compatibility. If confirmed, the remaining warranty period will be applicable at the new site.

  6. Is physical damage covered under warranty?

No. Damages due to misuse, shifting, or excessive water pressure are not covered. Replacement costs in such cases must be borne by the client.
